Windows xp has the capability for transferring files and folders via ftp.
To set up a connection:
Find the icon "my network places" on your desktop. Double click on it.
A window will open. Click on "add a network place"
The "add network wizard" will open. Click next.
A brief info download will occur ....
Another window will open. Select "choose another network location" and click "next".
Another window to add in your ftp site address and click "next".
Login anonymously. Click next.
Name your connection and click next.
Click finish to complete the add network place wizard.
Your ftp connection should open but you'll still need to log in.
To login to your ftp space, click "file" and choose "login as"
you will see a popup similar to this where you will add in your info. Click login
When you have been logged in you will see the files and folders on your ftp space.
Next you need to open the left pane to get to your files and folders to work with along side your ftp folders.Click on the arrow alongside the "up" folder as shown. From the drop down list choose "folders".
Now there is a left pane showing your local file and folder tree. You can now drag and drop your folders and files between your computer and your ftp space.
